Betty - a friend for nearly 50 years. Knowing her interest in gardening, we decided to enlist Betty’s help and advice when Roger and I set out to enlarge the garden at Holt Farm. Advice on trees followed and our friendship developed around our mutual interests in art, gardening, and trips to the cinema. We went to many exhibitions, including to London and Paris (horrors, no bath!) and enjoyed many a garden visit. She became a surrogate aunt to my children and enjoyed discussing art with my grandchildren. We included her in many family parties, even if held at Bath Rugby! I was very pleased to support her work on behalf of the Home Farm Trust and will always especially remember her for her wonderful patience and dedication to Paul's well-being. Mary Mead
